In accordance with the directives of the esteemed University Leadership and in line with efforts to enhance the awareness of faculty members and staff regarding the importance of environmental protection, a seminar entitled “Preventing Air Pollution and Protecting the Environment” was held in the university conference hall.
The program commenced with the recitation of several verses from the Holy Quran. Subsequently, presentations were delivered on the significance of environmental conservation from the perspective of Islam and the role of human beings in preserving and developing the Earth.
Thereafter, Mr. Amir Mohammad Faqirzai, Head of Professional Development at the University and presenter of the seminar, delivered a lecture on the major causes of air pollution and its adverse impacts on human health, the environment, and sustainable development. He stated that the excessive use of fossil fuels, emissions from vehicles, the burning of waste materials, deforestation, and improper waste management are among the primary causes of air pollution.
Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of public awareness, environmental education, expansion of green spaces, tree planting, the rational use of natural resources, and the collaborative efforts of academic institutions, government agencies, and citizens in reducing air pollution and protecting the environment. He noted that environmental protection is not the responsibility of a single institution alone, but rather a shared duty of all members of society.
In the final section of the seminar, participants shared their views and raised questions, followed by discussions on effective strategies for reducing air pollution and improving environmental conditions.
The seminar was conducted in a constructive and academic atmosphere, and participants emphasized the continuation of such awareness programs to promote environmental protection and safeguard public health.
